Web Guru Asia launches an online viral contest for ECCO Shoes Hong Kong Limited.

In another addition to our growing portfolio of viral marketing work, Web Guru Asia has launched an online viral contest for Danish shoe manufacturer ECCO, with sponsorship coming from Tourism Malaysia, GORE-TEX®, Mountain Hardwear and Action Asia magazine.

'ECCO is one of the world's great innovators in the manufacture of quality footwear, and we are proud to help them extend their brand online in Hong Kong,' said Alex Moore, Chief Guru and Managing Director of Web Guru Asia.

Designed to generate awareness of ECCO's range of hiking boots, the ECCO Action campaign is open to residents of Hong Kong. Entrants can win a range of prizes, including a holiday to visit Southeast Asia's most spectacular peak, Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia, Mountain Hardwear GORE-TEX® kit and ECCO hiking boots.

Web Guru Asia and HKDMA to revamp Hongkong Post's direct mail website.

Web Guru Asia has been commissioned to undertake a major revamp of Hongkong Post's direct mail website.

Hongkong Post has long been a leading provider of direct mail services to marketeers, and is one of the key members of the Hong Kong Direct Marketing Association (HKDMA).

Web Guru Asia will work closely with HKDMA to provide a total revamp and redesign of Hongkong Post's existing direct mail website.

'Direct mail has always been one of the key tools for marketeers to get their messages across,' said Alex Moore, Chief Guru and Managing Director of Web Guru Asia, 'and we are proud to be using the Internet to let people know just how effective direct mail can be. And, as an HKDMA member, we are particularly happy to be working with HKDMA on this project.'

The new website will feature information and advice on direct mail techniques. It will be in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

Love Life: a new viral campaign for the South China Morning Post.

The South China Morning Post, Hong Kong's leading English-language newspaper, wanted to educate Hong Kong residents about their revamped 'Life'section, and to spread the brand proposition that by reading 'Life' you gain the information and insights you need to make the right choices. To help achieve this goal, they commissioned Web Guru Asia to design, develop and manage an online viral contest.

The Love Life contest features a choice of prizes, including business class flights and shopping vouchers, which tie in with the various daily themes of the South China Morning Post's 'Life' section. Each of these prizes is linked to a themed Flash vignette that illustrates the benefits of reading 'Life'.

As in a standard viral contest, entrants receive chances to win for encouraging their friends to sign up. But the Love Life contest goes beyond this, and also works to promote sales of the South China Morning Post. Entrants can earn bonus chances to win by answering a series of weekly questions, the answers to which can be found in the 'Life' section of the South China Morning Post.

The Love Life contest is a core component of the South China Morning Post's marketing strategy for their 'Life' section.

Electronic Arts now online in Simplified Chinese.

As part of their expansion into China, video games giant EA wanted an online presence that would be in keeping with the look and feel of their website in the US, but that addressed the specific needs of the Chinese market. They asked Web Guru Asia to launch a new microsite for them in Simplified Chinese.

Web Guru Asia developed the microsite to showcase EA products, with a home page that changes when refreshed with details of games titles such as FIFA 2005 and The Sims 2. A key function of the microsite is data capture for future marketing initiatives, and so visitors are encouraged to register to receive updates about EA titles.

The new microsite forms an integral part of EA's marketing strategy in China.

Operation Santa Claus helps make 2004 a Merry Clickmas for Hong Kong charities.

At Web Guru Asia we believe in the power of the Internet to effect positive changes in people's lives. That's why we were happy to donate our services on a pro bono basis and develop a website and viral marketing solution for the ADMA's online fundraiser in support of one of Hong Kong's largest annual charity drives, Operation Santa Claus.

When a visitor to the website clicked the logo of a campaign sponsor, that sponsor will donated HK$1 to Operation Santa Claus.

As Chief Guru Alex Moore puts it, "Viral marketing is all about appealing to people's emotions—be it wonder, delight, surprise, shock, desire etc.—and incentivising them to involve their colleagues, family members and friends. As most people have spent the past year clicking for their own good, the website offered us all an opportunity to click for other people's benefit. Once the donation was made, we shared the giving experience with everyone we knew. Can you think of a better way to do your Christmas shopping?"

Operation Santa Claus was jointly organized by The South China Morning Post and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). It raised money for selected Hong Kong charities during the winter holiday season.
